GoPetitionAs part of the European Gender Summit 2011, with the ESF, we conducted extensive consultation with hundreds of representatives of the scientific community during and in the run up to the European Gender Summit. Through this a collective agreement on policy development on gender for innovation improvement, entitled the Policy Manifesto on "Integrated Action on the Gender Dimension in Research”, was produced. The Manifesto was presented to Máire Geoghegan Quinn, EC Commissioner for Research, Innovation & Science on 16 Dec 2011 and has received over 4000 signatures since. Through this support of the R&D&I community we were able to secure the European Parliament as the venue for 2012's, and thereby ensure that gender is central to policy discussions about the upcoming reshaping of European research. In 2012 we built on the discussions and examined how the incorporation of the gender dimension in our R&D&I can benefit Europe and European research. This was be considered mainly in the context three current European Commission policy initiatives: Horizon 2020; the European Research Area; and Innovation Union. You can sign the manifesto today
